The Carmelite Nuns of Baltimore

Living a life of contemplative prayer

Prayer

Community

Vision

Work

As Carmelites, our primary work is prayer, quiet presence before God.  We strive to bring this presence into every other necessary activity, so as to imbue all we do with prayer.  We work to share our life of prayer with people through liturgy, writing, spiritual direction, retreats, and occasional lectures.

Through our work, we are in solidarity with all people who must work to support themselves.

We also must work to be good stewards of our household and grounds, and to provide for the future of our community through planning, prudent stewardship of our resources, fostering vocations, and the formation of new members.
